They work swimmingly - they're just long enough to not restrict your movement when reaching for a high tool placement, and short enough to not constantly get caught around everything. The freely rotating connection point means that the tools don't get caught up around each other, you can just switch hands without issue. I've been feeling much more secure since using the leashes, it's a comfort to know that I won't lose a tool if something goes wrong

Good Leashes
Just used these this past weekend. I thought the locker on the axe spikes would be sweet and that's why I bought these, but in the end I rarely locked my tools in since we were moving between ice a lot. I did fall once and my axe stuck and the leashes arrested my fall before the rope. So that was kind of neat even though they're only rated for 2 kN.
