Bought this for my first foray into some of the sketchier Colorado 14ers. Super light, and easily fit my big noggin. The adjustable straps allow enough room to throw a beanie underneath if the temps are too cold, and the helmet is hardly noticeable once you have it on.

Best Helmet Ever
I’m a 30 year firefighter paramedic and have worn many helmets for long periods of time, and I can confidently say wearing the captain helmet is like wearing a baseball hat at the beach. Very comfortable and light weight with the security and protection of the black diamond name behind it. Keep it up BD you are crushing it

Nice Quality
It’s light weight yet feels very durable. Doesn’t rub or feel weird on your head and has plenty of room to adjust as well and could probably fit almost any head!

“Protect Ya Domepiece In Style” – A Review Of The Black Diamond Captain Helmet
Let me tell you something about the Black Diamond Captain helmet. This thing didn’t just save my skull—it elevated it to CEO status. One moment I’m a mortal clinging to a wall with the grace of a sleep-deprived squirrel, the next I’m a Captain leading an expedition of weekend warriors with unmatched head protection and inexplicable charisma. First of all, the name: Captain. Not Lieutenant, not Ensign, not Climbing Intern Level 1—Captain. When you strap this baby on, you don’t follow the route. The route salutes you. This helmet is so well-ventilated that when I got to the top of the crag, a nearby falcon tried to nest in it. I had to gently explain, “Sorry, majestic bird, this is reserved for leadership-level noggins only. ” Comfort? It hugs your head like it’s your grandma and you just got back from war. Lightweight? I forgot I was wearing it and tried to shampoo it in the shower. Twice. Bottom line: If you want a helmet that protects your brain while making you feel like the rock-crushing, granite-whispering legend you were always meant to be, grab the Captain. Just be prepared—people will start asking if you’re sponsored. 10/10, would lead an alpine siege in it again.

Does The Job
Fits great once you get the adjustment strap in the right position. I can look up and move my head around without any wobbling. It is noticeably heavier than my wife's Vision, but covers the back and side of my head significantly more.
