I have used the distance spike for years as my primary spike for trail running and mountaineering. It was easily the best spike in the market. However, now that the distance spike is discontinued, I decided to switch to the access spike. The access spike is good. It does the job. However, it does not stay in place as well as the distance spike. When running in the snow, the access spike can shift sideways on the front of the foot. The distance spike did not do this. So I have this a 3 star when compared to the distance spike which gets a 6 out of 5 stars.
