Rains Inside

I've owned this tent for approximately 4 years and have taken it on many backpacking trips. I love how lightweight and compact it is which is wonderful for backpacking. However, because there are no vents in the rain fly, on every single trip no matter what the weather is, the rain fly collects absurd amounts of condensation. I'm talking in cold weather, my partner and I can be sweating and sticky from humidity in the tent because it becomes so thick with condensation. We have just put up with it until now because it's so lightweight and compact. Additionally, I surprisingly never experienced more than light sprinkles in this tent until this past trip. The tent is designed in such a way that, due to the angle of the sidewalls, when the rain fly is opened for exiting or entering the tent, if it's raining outside, whatever gear you have in the tent anywhere near the door gets rained on. The number of times my sleeping bag, sleeping pad, clothes, etc. got wet this past trip was absurd. The tent doesn't leak from rain per say, but it doesn't need to because of the amount of condensation and the poor design allowing rain in any time the fly is opened in inclement weather. Time to find a new tent!

Okay Tent, Would Not Buy Again

I have owned this tent for about 3 years with 45+ days in this tent. I love the size, weight, and easy set-up of this tent. Although I would not buy it again or recommend. The design requires 2 tent stakes for set-up of the tent and I have had issues getting it completely taught without folds/wrinkles in the tent floor. I used this tent for part of a field season doing science research in the desert and found the design did not handle well in the wind. It was hard to find the right placement for the tent stakes for the vestibules to minimize material shaking in the wind. The zippers on the fly often catch the fabric and have resulted in holes.

Great Family Backpacking Tent

Plenty of room for a double wide and a single pad. extra room at the feet for a bit of gear. I like the pockets and having 2 zips at the door is great. The two vestibules are roomy but a little awkward to get in and out of

Tricky Tent

I've owned this tent for 3 years and used it on multiple multi-day and multi-week trips across Alaska. I haven't sold it yet because it is so lightweight and the inside is designed very nicely - lots of pockets and comfortable for 2 people and a dog. I bought a footprint because the bottom is so thin. My main complaint about the tent is the fly design. It is very difficult to set the tent up so you 1) get enough ventilation to prevent condensation on the inside and 2) so the fly doesn't droop onto the main tent. I frequently wake up with wet feet with water that has soaked through my sleeping bag. After 3 years, I'm still troubleshooting how to set it up correctly in a variety of different backcountry campsites (forest/tundra/gravel). Mainly, I've almost doubled the amount of stakes I use, and added longer guylines especially on the lone, tiny connection point at the head of the tent. It would be really nice if the fly and main tent could use the same stake, but that has never resulted in a dry night. Lastly, I'm frustrated by the condensation problem because it seems so so easy for Big Agnes to solve - why not just add little flaps you can open to increase air flow? This was an expensive tent, and I'm constantly contemplating selling this. Wouldn't recommend to a friend.

Love This Tent...

I've used this tent for 2+ years now for both backpacking and Hunting in the backcountry. It's a palace when it's just me. It's great with two people plenty of space to keep our gear under the vestibule. Having two doors is so nice when you're sharing a tent. I got caught in a storm that lasted 2 days with a light consistent drizzle and the tent stayed dry. The floors is super thin- so you have play it safe where you set it up but I've got over 20 nights in the tent and there's only 2 tiny holes i've patched up with some tape. I'm surprised at how it still stays dry given the fabric is so thin. Condensation is manageable- there's little to none on the inside of the tent but the vestibule will be wet on both the inside and outside by morning. Just make sure none of your gear is touching and you'll be fine. The only reason for the "4" is the zippers. They get stuck a little on the vestibule. inconvenient sometimes, but not too bad. I own multiple light weight tents from teepee style tents to other freestanding tents and when weight matters- and I don't need a stove for winter camping this one is my first choice.
