Midsole Needs Resuscitation
2 runs and I’m going to have to relegate these to hiking only. The midsole is absolutely “dead”. No energy whatsoever. As if this version of FlyteFoam Blast+ has been de-tuned drastically. My feet and joints hurt from running in this shoe. Give this midsole some life and you have a really good shoe.

The Best Trail Runner For Asics Lovers
Love this shoe! I just got back from a week in the Sierras where I ran lots of miles including Whitney and Half Dome. The shoe is great in comfort and grip, did well on roots and granite. But... already showing too much wear on the toe above the sole. Some other shoes protect this with rubber and ASICS should too. I still love my Hoka Speedgoat 5's, but I'll be running Pikes Peak Marathon in these. (they run about a 1/4 size large).

Great First Trail Shoes
Maybe it is just my inexperience with trail shoes, but it does feel like more cushion could be used. However, I only feel that when running on crushed limestone or gravel. Definitely durable out in the trail.

Avoid Buying This Shoe For Trail Running
This is not a shoe for those who run rough, technically challenging trails. The shock absorption capability of the Gel Trabuco 13 is nonexistent. You feel the hard impact of your foot hitting the ground throughout your leg and hip. The so-called rock plate provides no protection. Each time your foot hits a root or rock you feel it intensely. Indeed, you can even feel the lugs on the outsole of the shoe when standing on carpet inside your house! Asics had a good trail running shoe in the Gel Trabuco 11. Since then the company has completely messed up this line of shoes. If you are a serious trail runner, avoid this shoe.

Comfortable
I'm about 5 runs into this shoe at about 3 mi each run. I was looking for my usual GT-2000 trail but, seems even Asics site does not have them so I took a chance on these. I'm glad I did. They are very comfortable and have good traction on pavement and along the prairie path tiny gravel. I have worn a size 9 in GT-1000, GT-2000, and Gel Venture. My usual size fit perfectly with these. Did not have to upsize. Hope this helps.
