Not Waterproof

Good looking shoe, great fit form my size 12 wide foot, but not even close to being waterproof. Brand new, worn for a 10 block walk in light to moderate rainfall, using an umbrella, and socks were soaking wet. Not even water resistant. I have tons of Arc'teryx gear and have never been disappointed. These shoes should not be marketed as waterproof. ☹️

Why Change The Sole?

Why did you change the sole cushioning? This is my 3rd pair of Norvan LDs and these are the least comfortable cushioning of them all. The prior versions were much softer and these soles are HARD out of the box like they are 3 years old and worn out. My feet were sore after wearing these for just 1-2 hours. Also, why hide lace loops under the side flaps? This causes the shoe side flaps to not be flush and not have a secure, form fitting feel. It also causes debris to get in around the shoe tongue. Very poor color options - what happened to the grey color? I assumed they would be as comfortable as the prior versions and already wore them in the dirt so can't return them now.

Really Solid Shoe, As Long As You Give It Time

I'd give it more of a 3.5/5, as the Norvan shoe has made incredible progress from the 3 model, but could still use some work. I was skeptical getting the Goretex version at first, because I can see how (if water does penetrate), drying may be a very tough hassle especialy doing creek crossings during a race – but I really have not experienced water getting into the shoe which is awesome. There is also a break-in period with the shoe; it gets better as the miles come along. I loved the Sylan at first, and didn't like the Norvan, but it's the opposite case now. The Norvan does a great job at molding to your foot with use, and is honestly a great shoe for just cruising (not necessarily going fast but really good at keeping your ankle stable). I would like to see a reduction in weight, and more abstract colorways or patterns (like the Sylan has), but I think the shoe is certainly on the right path. TLDR: You can plant your foot and trust it will respond with stability.

Sizing Chart And Description Are Inaccurate

Per the product description (as of 09/19/2025): > "Size and fit tip: We've heard that this product runs large. Please refer to the sizing chart to find your foot length, then we recommend choosing a half size down." I followed that advice, and the shoe ended up way too small... Uncomfortably tight and not usable. I’d recommend sticking with your normal size. Otherwise, the shoe seems to be well constructed.

Comfortable & Great For Hiking

Took these on a 5 day hike trip and they're so comfortable, have great traction and survived the rainy wet PNW. I have trauma in my foot from a past fracture and always get nervous with new shoes and these worked out amazingly! And very durable.
