I bought these and they are the most comfortable sneaker I have ever had. The toe box is wide and provides so much cushion and space that I can wear them all day long!

Very comfortable shoes with good tread and support.

I left a previous review for these shoes and gave them 5 stars because they were so comfortable. Sadly after 6 months they've already started to fall apart and haven't held up with what I'd expect for the cost. They're still comfortable but I wouldn't tell other people to buy them just because they aren't durable at all. The first hike I wore them the plastic layer around the toes started to peel off. Which was disappointing to say the least. I'd recommend other brands that are more durable, these aren't it.

I'm really disappointed in the Timp 5's. For some unknown reason, Altra decided to make these more narrow than the Timp 4'a. For a company that markets itself as having "foot shaped" shoes, this redesign baffles me. I've worn previous versions of the Timps without issue. Attached are photos showing blisters where I've never had them before- at the widest part of my big toe. Another photo is of my little toe - blackened from rubbing against the narrow toe box of the Timp 5's. I will likely lose this toe nail. I've never lost a little toe nail before. Why Altra??? Why? If you are going to market your shoes as "foot shaped" they shouldn't be causing people to lose toe nails from the narrow footbox. Less important bits: Also - the shoe laces were weirdly too short. The Timp 4's were perhaps slight too long. Maybe compromise on a length between the two??? The loop on the heel is too small to put a finger through, rendering it useless to help pull on the shoe. Either make the loop big enough to be used, or don't add one. On the positive: the heel is well constructed. The cloth lining is a bit more durable than the Timp 4's.

I've tried the Superiors, Timps, and Olympus and the Timps are my favorite by far - just enough cushioning to feel supported, but not so much that I lose foot feel or feel like I'm running in platforms. Tongue is much improved from Timp 4 (that one was stiff and cut into the ankle until it softened up a bit) - it's cushioned and much softer. Otherwise, the toe box feels more rigid and less comfortable than the Timp 4's. It sounds like a small thing, but I really miss the pull tab on the back of Timp 4's - big enough to loop a finger into easily to slip the shoe on and off while standing. Not a huge deal, but the pull tab on the 5's is small (though still big enough to put a carabiner through, thankfully).

I had a pair of TIMP 4's that lasted for 9 months on many hiking miles and they were great. Got these and my pinkie toe and 4th toe on both feet have blisters from the Toe Box on the TIMP 5's. I am very disappointed in the change and narrowing of the Toe Box. After 12 days and 7 attempts to hike with them, I have given up and will have to trash these and move on to something else.

I love the durability, I they have a lil over 300 miles and they're still going. I love the quality, they make my long runs a breeze. I'll always come back for this shoe. 11/10

I have the old Timps and they worked great although they didn't last even 6 months of relatively easy hiking. These guys are stiff, the heel cup area rubs my ankles and achilles tendon in the back. They hard area where the toe creases gives me blisters--the fabric is too stiff and doesn't break in. On the positive side, these guys grip the ground but I am in so much agony after a couple miles, it really isn't worth it. High hopes that never materialized. Still searching...

Long time TIMP wearer, glad to see the tounge back, but the shorter laces and toe boxes caused blisters for the first time in my Altra wearing history. Pinky toes, and not Enough lace to really adj.

I love these! I trained and raced in the lone peaks last year and made the switch for more cushion and a narrower toe box. These are great and would definitely recommend them!!

I have several pairs of Timp 4 in various colors and I absolutely love them! When I saw the Raspberry color in the Timp 5 I decided to give it a try, but so far it is not nearly as comfortable. There is a different stiffness in the shoe that makes it almost bend when you walk which makes it hard to adjust how tight the laces should go. I hope it breaks in over time, but the others were comfortable right out of the box and this one is not so much...

Toe box and across laces feels incredibly tight. I've been wearing Altea for years and these are by far my least favorite. I loved the color and the cushion and wanted to love these. Incredibly uncomfortable and gave blisters on trail.

I bought this b/c of the standard FootShape & Vibram Sole. Feels small b/c the hard mesh does not stretch. I solved this by inserting a very thin insole. The laces were different lengths. Again, easy fix. The glue let loose on my first run, again solved with shoe goo. The gaiter loop on left shoe is sewn so tight it won't flip back towards my ankle. Now about 75-100 miles on them they are falling apart around the ankle where they rub. These shoes have potential but the junk materials except for Vibram sole are worthless. I am now reaching out to Altra, but I certainly do not want another junk replacement pair. Just happy I had a discount code and I didn't pay full price.

Way too narrow and too small, whole shoe! Please make this model with an original natural foot shape shoe option that made Altra an Altra or please make the Lone Peak with the vibram lugs and an option for original or some extra cushion for trail runs in the ultra distances. This is the gap needed to be filled

I've been wearing Timps for years and each version I've been pleasantly surprised with each improvement. These broke my heart. I first bought my size I've worn for years at the store, toes smashed the end when I ran. Went online and bought a bigger size, better in the toe box but now my heel was moving all around. They constantly loosen while running and the loop at the back... why? Why make it so small that only a pinky finger can go through? Disappointing overall. Only improvement was the tread (my Timp 4 broke down quickly) but I will never know because now these will sit because they aren't worth the discomfort to ever put full miles on them. Why Altra?
